Im 18 years old and my hair is falling out..i don't think this is normal. help please!?

For the past few weeks every time i brush and wash my hair..ALOT of hair is falling out..i have to empty my brush twice before finishing and when im in the shower it comes out in chunks when im washing my hair. The only thing i have heard that causes hair loss is age and not eating right..well i eat really healthy and run everyday (i've lost 57 pounds and counting..)

My hair has never done this..even when i was eating horribly! so i hope there is nothing terribly wrong.

Oh and its never been dyed and i rarely use products beside shampoo and conditioner.Im 18 years old and my hair is falling out..i don't think this is normal. help please!?
year ago I suffered very much from hair loss too and I started trying everything you can imagine to stop my hair loss.

the things that really worked for me was:

1) Vitamin A - an anti-oxidant which promotes healthy production of sebum in the scalp;

2) Vitamin E stimulates circulation. Good blood circulation in the scalp is important in keeping hair follicles productive. The 'B' vitamins contribute to melanin, which gives hair its healthy color and also stimulates blood circulation;

3) massage is also beneficial. Massage stimulates circulation. As already noted, good circulation in the scalp keeps hair follicles active. Experts suggest a few minutes of daily head massage by hand. Circulation through massage may be improved by using a few drops of lavender or bay essential oil in an almond or sesame oil base with massage;

4) Try rubbing your scalp with garlic juice, Onion Juice or Ginger Juice(you can either of one out of three, Do not mix any of two or three);

5) also I used herbal treatment - TrichoZed

It is a good product that helps prevent hair loss and it is an FDA approved product. I think it is very important!

It worked and still works for me!

I do not know if any pharmacies carry TrichoZed but I do know that you should purchase it directly from the manufacturer and read more about the product here http://www.trichozed.info/why.php

It enhances hair growth by blocking DHT (Dihydrotestostrone) - a major cause of hair loss!

good luck!

not only my and my husband`s own personal experience

Wow lost 57 lbs (can't tell if that's a really good thing or a really bad thing since no past/current lb was given - but congrats if it is)

Never heard of anyone losing their hair at 18, especially a girl.

I think you aught to go see a doctor, because this shouldn't be caused by shampoo or conditioner (or if it is, you can file a lawsuit for big $$$)
It could be stress (which I think is most likely), but another likely culprit is that you could be losing weight too quickly. 57 lbs, though! Good for you!

Have you been sick in the past few months? The hair loss could be a delayed result of an illness.

Do you use hot tools on your hair? Like a hairdryer, flatiron, or curling iron? That could have something to do with it.

You might have something like a hair fungus, or it could be as simple as your hormones going nuts.

I recommend seeing your doctor about it if the hair loss continues.
If none of these questions ring a bell, please see your doctor. You might be lacking certain vitamins, and a doctor can help you with that, or s/he will figure out what's going on.

Have you had an eating disorder like anorexia or bulimia? (You're losing weight in a healthy manner, right? Congrats!)

Have you been under extreme stress? Stress can do it!

Are you taking anything for your skin, like Accutane, or any new medicines or birth control?

Are you using a new shampoo? Pantene has been known to cause hair loss.

Here's a link for temporary hair fibers that fill in any bald spots.

Please, Amanda, see your doctor if necessary. Best of luck to you! :)
