I鈥檝e had flaky and itchy scalp for the past 2 years, and I have I鈥檝e noticed my hair getting thinner, could this be caused by excess scratching of the scalp? I鈥檝e noticed when my hair falls out there is excess skin on the follicle.Can hair loss be a result of scalp problems?
yes! of course!

you should try to stop your hair loss!

and get rid of your scalps itchiness!

anyway as we know hair loss can be caused by many different reasons! Find out the actual cause of hair loss! There are many causes of loss of hair such as stress, poor nutrition ,medications, thyroid dysfunctions, illness, fungal infections ,hormonal problems, to mention a few.

year ago I suffered from hair loss too and I started trying everything you can imagine to stop my hair loss.

the things that really worked for me was:

1) Vitamin A - an anti-oxidant which promotes healthy production of sebum in the scalp;

2) Vitamin E stimulates circulation. Good blood circulation in the scalp is important in keeping hair follicles productive. The 'B' vitamins contribute to melanin, which gives hair its healthy color and also stimulates blood circulation;

3) massage is also beneficial. Massage stimulates circulation. As already noted, good circulation in the scalp keeps hair follicles active. Experts suggest a few minutes of daily head massage by hand. Circulation through massage may be improved by using a few drops of lavender or bay essential oil in an almond or sesame oil base with massage;

4) Try rubbing your scalp with garlic juice, Onion Juice or Ginger Juice(you can either of one out of three, Do not mix any of two or three);

5) also I used herbal treatment - TrichoZed

It is a good product that helps prevent hair loss and it is an FDA approved product. I think it is very important!

It worked and still works for me!

I do not know if any pharmacies carry TrichoZed but I do know that you should purchase it directly from the manufacturer and read more about the product here http://www.trichozed.info/why.php

It enhances hair growth by blocking DHT (Dihydrotestostrone) - a major cause of hair loss!

good luck!

not only my and my husband`s own personal experienceCan hair loss be a result of scalp problems?
Yes. A healthy scalp is very much essential for healthy hair growth. There are many reasons for dry, unhealthy scalp. It can be due to stress or if you had long illness.

Hormonal problems may also cause hair loss with a dry scalp. If your thyroid gland is overactive or under active, your hair may fall out. This hair loss usually can be helped by treatment. Hair loss may occur if male or female hormones, known as androgen and estrogen, are out of balance. Correcting the hormone imbalance may stop your hair loss.

Certain infections can cause hair loss. Fungal infections of the scalp can cause hair loss over time.

There are many hair growth products in the market. But one should be sure that they comply with the US Drug Administration guidelines because some products may cause side effects.

Once you have your hair back, use certain essentials oils on regular basis to keep your scalp healthy. Over the years it will maintain your scalp and you will have healthy and strong hair.
Hair Loss can be caused by many reasons. Best thing to do at first signs of hair loss, is go to a local doctor to figure out the cause, and then you can work on hair loss treatment options.
1st of all, dont panic! Hair always grows back. Ppl lose 100 hairs a day, but if its more than that, you should prob call a doctor, to get a blood test to see if you have enough iron. Take a multivitamin, when I had hairloss, even flinstones helped lol. Biotin is an essential mineral for growth. Hair loss can be from over washing/blowdrying, too much grease in hair, too much brushing, stress, and most importantly poor diet. Make sure you eat right, and enough. This is why people with anorexia experience hair loss. Also, be gentle with it, and drink LOTS of water, it helps, trust me. But yes, hair loss can also be from scalp issues like dandruff and lice.
Well i think the scratching may be a contributor but i think you might need to use a dandruff treatment. I used a product from provillus but its more for balding hair. It works thought so you might want to try it out, the first 2 months are free so if it doesnt you can just return the product for your money back.
Hi there,

It does contribute to the problem. The best thing that i can recommend is lathering your scalp with extra virgin olive oil and massage your scalp daily.
