Okay so I am an 18 year old male and i think i am experiencing hair loss. A little less than a year ago i stupidly bought an at home relaxer because I was so tired of my curly hair. After the application i noticed within two months that my bangs seemed to have split ends, take longer to grow, and were much thinner. At the time i assumed that the straighter style was making my hair look thinner, so i buzzed my head and allowed my hair to grow back. Since then i feel as if my hair takes much longer to grow, and it appears as if i am experiencing a receding hairline. My dad started balding at 17 and male pattern baldness runs in my family. I guess my question is whether or not that one chemical treatment could be the sole cause of my hair loss, and whether or not the loss will continue without any treatment- or whether the chemical treatment could have ignited male pattern baldness and started my hairline's receding. I would ultimately like to know if i should consider looking at treatments for chemical hair loss since i am too young to do anything about male pattern baldness. If my hair will repair itself on its own that would be great- i wouldnt have to own up to the mistake i made.Will chemically caused hair loss continue after chemical treatments cease?
yes! it is possible....
year ago my husband suffered very much from dandruff and hair loss too and he started trying everything you can imagine to stop his hair loss. the things that really worked for him was:
1) Vitamin A - an anti-oxidant which promotes healthy production of sebum in the scalp;
2) Vitamin E stimulates circulation. Good blood circulation in the scalp is important in keeping hair follicles productive. The 'B' vitamins contribute to melanin, which gives hair its healthy color and also stimulates blood circulation;
3) massage is also beneficial. Massage stimulates circulation. As already noted, good circulation in the scalp keeps hair follicles active. Experts suggest a few minutes of daily head massage by hand. Circulation through massage may be improved by using a few drops of lavender or bay essential oil in an almond or sesame oil base with massage;
4) Try rubbing your scalp with garlic juice, Onion Juice or Ginger Juice (you can either of one out of three, Do not mix any of two or three);
5) also he used herbal treatment - TrichoZed and Provilluss (do not use Rogaine - it will not work!)
Those are a good products that helps prevent hair loss and contains Biotin and the clinically tested ingredients approved by the FDA to help re-grow your hair.! I think it is very important!
It worked and still works for him!
I do not know if any pharmacies carry TrichoZed and Provillus but I do know that you should purchase it directly from the manufacturer and read more about the product here

and here
http://www.provillus.com/?aid=221781
It enhances hair growth by blocking DHT (Dihydrotestostrone) - a major cause of hair loss!
Also Informative video about Provillus - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0ydvCHhbR
good luck!
not only my husband`s own personal experience + working as a family physician

Go to a good hair salon, ask them some questions and stop with the diy hair care until your hair is healthy again. Baldness is easily treated now; friend got transplant/plugs, he looks fabulous.
I feel that you are fixated on this, please do something else. Ask your friends, they probably don't notice or care.
i know my hair fell out for a different reason but i take hair, skin and nail vitamins for GNC and it grew back rather quickly. it fell out cuz i was anorexic for 7 years.
Give it more time. It's too soon to tell for sure.
