Can Strongid-T cause hair loss in a cat?

My cat, Juicy, is 2 years old. She has very long, think hair and looks like a Maine Coon. Her hair has started coming out in clumps. She is up to date on all of her shots. I thought it could just be because it's summer and I live in southern Mississippi, but she is an inside cat and never goes outside. She has been taking Strongid-T for worms. Can this be causing her hair loss?? The most hair loss is around the bottom of her tail, the back of her legs, and around her neck. She still has a lot of hair around her neck it just looks like it's been cut. Around her tail and back of her legs, its almost bald. Thank you for any info you can give. Can Strongid-T cause hair loss in a cat?
No. My kitten 3 month was given that too, weekly doses for a month. He didn't have any hair loss.

';Side Effects

Worms are frequently passed with some diarrhea, straining, and sometimes vomiting. An extremely parasitized, very small animal may suffer a worm impaction when a large number of worms die and try to pass at the same time. This is an unusual possibility but be aware of it if you鈥檙e using this in very small animals. The CDC recommends deworming as young as age 2 weeks for dogs and cats. The hair loss could be for a number of reasons. Just to eliminate two of them, you should get a spot-on solution for the cat to get rid of any external parasites that may be making the cat's skin itch. She may be scratching to relieve it and this may cause the hair to fall out.

Two, it may be the worms being eliminated from her system. Some worm treatments don't kill the worms, but paralyse them, allowing them to be passed in the cat's faeces. They may be causing some irritation on the cat's skin in that region.

To tell you the truth, it would be worth your time asking your vet about it. It wouldn't be life threatening, but it might be very unpleasant for the cat.
