Sorry if they are unrelated questionsQuestion about Red itchy skin?
The main cause of psoriasis is overreaction of the immune system. I try to eat healthy food and avoid stress as much as I can in order to prevent flare-ups.
After using number of prescription drugs I've turned to the natural treatments.
Now I use herbal remedies from serenaskin.com, which aim at the root of the disease - the immune system, and are steroid-free.
After about 2 weeks of using ointment and spray my scalp has been cleared up and now I just continue with anti-psoriasis extract, which controls the immune system. My scalp has been clear for months now.
It is the only treatment I have found that provides me complete relief when I use it as directed.Question about Red itchy skin?
It does sound like psoriasis. I have psoriasis....and this is going to sound crazy, but I am so tired right now and can't go into detail, but I want to give you some helpful info so I will update my answer tomorrow!...no it does not cause hair loss...
Check back tomorrow okay!?!
ok I don't know for sure of course if you have psoriasis...it could be a number of things. The issue with your scalp though, plus the rashes on your skin lead me to believe you may have psoriasis. There are prescription and home remedies and over the counter remedies. Psoriasis is an autoimmune disease....basically your skin develops cells at a faster than normal rate of other people, which causes the rash. Here is the national psoriasis website where you can get more information....http://www.psoriasis.org/NetCommunity/Pa
Although it can look quite disturbing at times, it is non-contaigous. There is no cure for it as far as we know, and there are many different things that can trigger it for different people. Also some remedies work for some people, and some don't. You just have to test and try different things to keep it under control. Walgreens has a pretty good line of medicines to treat it if you don't want to do prescription stuff...I believe it's called dermarest...there are several different medicines that actually help me quite a bit. The dermatologist can also give you a topical solution that helps for those irritated spots that works well-I can't think of what it's called at the moment. I am skeptical of using any prescription internal medicines though.
I can tell you that the sun is absolutely the best treatment for me. Of course on the other hand, the sun is bad for you. But I can go to the tanning bed for small amounts at a time or out in the sun for a couple of weeks and the improvement of my P is awesome. Even if you use spf sunscreen, you can still get benefits for P. Some people have even moved to sunnier enviroments to control there P. Also the beach and the salt water is an amazing treatment as well.
For some, the weather is a trigger or food or stress.
Fish oil, evening primrose oil, flaxseed oils are just a few vitamins/supplements that can be helpful to control p. My P is obviously better when I take either of those oils. There are many others that help too.
As far as your scalp goes...this is the absolute best treatment for me and this is what my dermatologist told me to do. Get several different anti-dandruff shampoos...it might be costly at first. I like head and shoulders, Nizoral (this can be purchased by prescription and although it is available over the counter, the active ingredient is 1 percent more and it makes a big difference so if you can get NIzoral prescription), Neutragena T-gel, Paul Mitchell tea tree. You see, different anti-dandruff shampoos have different active ingredients so to get better control you need to switch them out. So alternate these shampoos for a week or so until you get it under control, then you can just use them once or twice a week so you can use you other favorite shampoos. Another great treatment for it is 1/2 cup of apple cider vinegar or white vinegar and 1/2 cup of warm water. While your in the shower or bend your head down pour it all over your head and let it sit for 30 minutes or so and then rinse with cool water. Yes you will stink, but the smell dissapates after it dries, plus your hair will be really shiny and more managable ( i know it sounds like a commercial, but it's true). You can even use the vinegar/water as a spot treatment on your scalp and leave it there...no need to rinse.
So try these things, see what others have to say on the website, and get diagnosed. Hopefully that helps..Oh and if you sign up on the website you can have conversations with others, but you will also get emails asking for donations which I never do because for one....I can't and for two, it frustrates me that we donate all our money to all these things, yet there is never a cure.
Also if you look at pictures of Psoriasis on the internet, most of the pictures are very severe so yours might not look the same as the pictures...just keep that in mind.
If you do have psoriasis and you notice that it comes and goes, pay attention to the weather, what your eating, etc. so you can figure out what might trigger it.
