Okay, I have central hypothyroidism (casused by the pituitary). Since before being diagnosed my t3 level was 4.4 with a cut off value of 4.3. I was then put on Levothyroxine of 50 mcg for low t4 and cytomel .5 mcg for energy. My t4 and t3 stayed the same. I was slowly increased over the last 2 years. During this time I had transphenoidal surgery to remove the tumor that was causing cushings. I was then on 125 levothyroxine and 2 cytomels (.5 mcg) a day. My levels were at t4 of .98 with cutoff of 1.25 and t3 at 4.4 with cutoff of 4.3. I was still feeling very hypo with no weight loss, no energy, hair fried, cold, etc. I then switched to dessicated thyroid 2 grains. Started feeling awesome and then slowly the symptoms of hypo are creeping back in. Last test my t4 is low at 0.77 which should be in the high range of normal due to pituitary damage and my t3 is still at 4.4. My doctor is perplexed as to why my t3 doesn't change but my t4 does. She wants to back my meds off a little. I have NO symptoms of hyper but increasing of hypo, I am freezing. My basal temp is now back down to 97.1 by mouth in morning. I want to try an increased dose to see if my t3 will move at all or whether it would just help the hypo symptoms. Any thoughts out there on this and as to why my t3 doesn't move no matter what my dose has been. This is with no cytomel, up to 2 cytomel with doses of lovothyroxine between 44 mcg and 125 mcg. Strange to me.Thyroid questions....Please help?
a suggestion is that docs assume the role of foods, chemicals in your problem, for years, diabetes
for example, was a disease ,cause u/k,that causes pancreas to secrete insufficient insulin,
these days,,a virus affecting horn cells is known to have a role,,,,,we're talkin the immune system
your other qs refer to other ';allergies'; hashimotos allergic thyroiditis is another autoimmune disorder
caused by excessive radiation.Doctors waltz sniff around the various problems of polisystemic
immune disorders, and miss the forest,,instead pruning 3 or 4 trees, each symptom gets a drug to fix
the symptom.
one or more foods,and/or chemicals may be causing your t hormone values to do a see saw.
among chemicals,bisphenol A,as in plastic bottles,chemicals in perfume,household chem disinfectants,proximity to a chemical factory,plastics in plumbing.
among the proteins you eat, maybe chicken.beef, pork, chocolate
try an 11 hour fast, nothing to eat or drink but 8 oz of mineral water every hour for 11 hrs.
(this is labor intensive, book name appears below)
by trial and error,,,this involves eating a tiny piece of food, wait 45 minutes, check pulse, face or hands for redness,,,write down how you feel, every food group, stuff that you chow down regularly, try a peace, wait 45 min,see what happens. You may hit on one or a couple among the foods that is the trigger for the hormone see saw.
