Whatt can cause hair loss at the age of 14?

My friend has been losing her hair, and shes 14.

She doesn't do anything harsh to her hair. Only straightening, and she using a heat protector.

But since shes been losing a lot of hair, she stopped for about 2 weeks.

She said when she drains the bathtub water, the bathtub is covered in hair =/

She hasn't been eating lunch, can that be a cause?

and its our first year of Highschool, so could it be just because shes stress about homework?

What causes hair loss?

and how can you get your hair to grow back quickly with home remedies?Whatt can cause hair loss at the age of 14?
A number of things can cause excessive hair loss. For example, about 3 or 4 months after an illness or a major surgery, you may suddenly lose a large amount of hair. This hair loss is related to the stress of the illness and is temporary.

Hormonal problems may cause hair loss. If your thyroid gland is overactive or underactive, your hair may fall out. This hair loss usually can be helped by treatment thyroid disease. Hair loss may occur if male or female hormones, known as androgens and estrogens, are out of balance. Correcting the hormone imbalance may stop your hair loss.

Many women notice hair loss about 3 months after they've had a baby. This loss is also related to hormones. During pregnancy, high levels of certain hormones cause the body to keep hair that would normally fall out. When the hormones return to pre-pregnancy levels, that hair falls out and the normal cycle of growth and loss starts again.

Some medicines can cause hair loss. This type of hair loss improves when you stop taking the medicine. Medicines that can cause hair loss include blood thinners (also called anticoagulants), medicines used for gout, medicines used in chemotherapy to treat cancer, vitamin A (if too much is taken), birth control pills and antidepressants.

Certain infections can cause hair loss. Fungal infections of the scalp can cause hair loss in children. The infection is easily treated with antifungal medicines.

Finally, hair loss may occur as part of an underlying disease, such as lupus or diabetes. Since hair loss may be an early sign of a disease, it is important to find the cause so that it can be treated.Whatt can cause hair loss at the age of 14?
Hair loss during adolescence can mean a person may be sick or just not eating right. Some medications or medical treatments, like chemotherapy treatment for cancer, also cause hair loss. People can even lose their hair if they wear a hairstyle that pulls on the hair for a long time, such as braids.

Losing hair can be stressful during a time when you're already concerned about appearance. Most of the time, hair loss during the teen years is temporary. With temporary hair loss, the hair usually grows back after the problem that causes it is corrected.

If you have hair loss and don't know what's causing it, talk to your doctor. A doctor can determine why the hair is falling out and suggest a treatment that will correct the underlying problem, if necessary.
Time to see a dermatologist, Your friend's sudden hair loss needs to be investigated. Maybe she has a form of alopecia, which could be caused by any number of factors.

Home remedies don't grow hair back very well. Again, a doctor would be able to advise whether your friend's sudden hair loss is less serious than it seems to be, or a symptom of something seriously wrong in your friend's body. Plus a doctor could recommend medication to slow or stop the hair loss.
Common causes of hair loss in teens can include stress, improper nutrition (for healthy hair on the outside you need to be healthy on the inside) hormone changes, and some skin/scalp problems such as dandruff. Dandruff can make hair fall out and is a common cause of hair fall. Unfortunately there are also a couple serious health problems that can lead to hair loss so a visit to the doctor's might be in order for your friend. It could also be And this is really icky Head lice. YUCK! if she sees little critters crawling in her hair then that is the cause of her hair problems.

If she isn't sick then get to the ';root'; of the problem. Root? Hair? that was a feeble attempt at humor. She needs to check her scalp for flaky, red, dry, oily dandruffy or irritated skin. That can be helped with a zinc containing shampoo such as good old Head and Shoulders. Hormones there isn't much that can be done about them, and for good health she needs to eat three to five healthy meals a day. And don't eat garbage! Eat real food! Stress is harder to cure. If nothing helps then another doctor visit will be in order, again there are treatments for medial related hair loss in teens. it is a real medical condition and there are real treatments for it.
not a good sign hun :(

it could be stress, my best advice would be to see a doctor

and quick it could be something minor so don't worry.

You should advise her to tell her parents.

There are Womens Hair Regrowth kits usually used for older women with bald spots, they can be purchased at a drug store.

If you want the best for your friend tell her to see a doctor.

Hope it works out.

Good Luck!
Stress.

I'm guessing this because she doesn't eat lunch.

It may also be anorexia.

My personal experience says stress, but not from homework, it would be way more then that.
Stress is a big part of it, as well if you've ever died your hair, or a poor diet, plus you lose 100 strands a day.
