Side effects from 50 mg. of Topamax daily?

I've been put on Topamax 50 mg. daily to prevent migraines which are causing brain seizures. My neurologist says that I may have to be on it for 3 or 4 years seizure-free before he'll consider taking me off of it.


I've been on it for about three weeks. At first I was really sluggish and my mind was slow but I think it's getting better. I've also read about some other unpleasant side effects, like hair loss, decreased libido and weight gain after stopping it (I haven't lost any weight while on it).


Please tell me your experience on this drug. I'm so afraid that taking the drug will be worse than having an occasional seizure.Side effects from 50 mg. of Topamax daily?
If you looked at the side effect list for Tylenol, you would be afraid to take that, too. Everyone is different, and you can't assume that you're going to experience every possible side effect. I think seizure prevention is pretty darn important. You could be seriously hurt if you have a seizure at the wrong time.
