What is causing these symptoms?

I am 23 years old. Since July, I have experience hot flashes. Not getting hot randomly because it's hot outside, real hot flashes. I've lost 10 pounds in the last month. My period has always been regular, coming every 29 days and lasting for three days. But this time it came 5 days early and lasted for 5 days. This is also the first time I didn't have cramps or bloating, however, I have been very very emotional. Crying at the drop of a hat, sometimes for no reason and sometimes because something small happened and it made me cry. My hair is beginning to feel and look unhealthy. It's never been frizzy and now, no matter what I put in it, that's all it's been. I've been a vegetarian for a year and a half, I work a very stressful job and I just started grad school part time. I thought the stress in my life may explain why I've been crying so often, but I don't feel overwhelmed or depressed. The weight loss and the hot flashes really worry me, but when I really look at everything combined including the emotions, I'm beginning to think something is seriously wrong. I called the doctor to make an appointment, but I'd like to have some opinions on what may be wrong. Am I going through early menopause??What is causing these symptoms?
OMG you may be pregnantWhat is causing these symptoms?
Well, I don't know what your diet is like, but I was a vegetarian for a while and I got anemic, I got all kinds of stuff, I lost weight, I got hot flashes, I was stressed out all the time and I had stomach problems, I even blacked out a little sometimes. Hopefully this is helpful maybe you check to see if that's the problem, because when I started being a vegetarian it was fine but after a years or so I started to get sick. Hope you feel better, ciao!!!
It sounds to me like you are experiencing symptoms of hormone imbalances. Your doctor should do some blood work to check your hormone levels and your thyroid function. If you don't find that your family doctor takes your complaints seriously or you are just not satisfied with his answers you may want to make an appointment with a gynecologist. A gynecologist would be more familiar with the symptoms of hormonal imbalance.

Good luck and I hope you feel better soon.
Unlikely you are having menopause. Have you been taking any new medications or vitamins? Also have you done a pregnancy test? I know you said you had your cycle but you just never know. Good luck with the doctor.
it might be endometriosis which is an early menopause. my sister who is 22 who has it. and i am starting to show signs of it and i'm 19. i have some of the same signs. but i think its endometriosis because of the hot flashes
Might just be stress, you are only 23 I havent heard of anyone going through menopause that early. Since you are vegetarian you might be lacking some important nutrients. Of course get a checkup, its probably nothing major.
it sounds like it... if so the dr will put u on hormone therapy. the big question is ... if you are going through early menopause, what is the reason for it? Good luck to you.
the cghange early maybe

maybe it's because you're a vegetarian. you need protein or you hair falls out. bad news, huh? so save a potato.. eat a cow instead.
Highly doubt you're going through menopause at 23.

Chances are it's your thyroid, but let the bloodwork determine that.
that's is so sad. i really feel so sorry for you. i had a little bit of those symptoms like yours but they didn't worry me . so i have no idea what might be causing these. i just went to a psychologist when others thought that i might be having depression or sth, but i told them that i didnt have any worries or depressions and it IS true. i didnt feel like i had depressin or sth but i did what they told me anyways.
