I was diagnosed with Androgenetic Alopecia about 5 months ago. I had been using Rogaine for women for the past year because my hair was thinning so much however, I can't use it anymore because it irritates my scalp. The Dr. put me on spironolactone 50mg and I have been taking it for 5 months. I noticed the shedding in the shower has really decreased but the front of my scalp where I originally saw the balding has not changed. as a matter of fact i think it's gotten worse. Does anyone know how long it takes for the medicine to work. I also changed birth control pills recently i am on Seasonique and I am wondering if this causes hair loss. Any thoughts?Androgenetic alopecia In women?
I have read some blogs about others questioning the link between seasonique and hair loss (because the androgenic properties in seasonique). The extent to which a true relationship between the product and hair loss exists would require further investigation; and, possibly a conversation with your physician or pharmacist.
As you may know, there are tons of hair loss products. Many of the products geared toward men also have products for women. The blog I site below has a link to a comparison site that reviews a variety of medical and natural hair loss treatments. Check it out. I hope your condition clears up soon.
