Does hair thickening shampoo cause hair loss/breakage?

I remember reading that hair thickening shampoo can ultimately cause damage, because the stuff that coats each strand to make it thicker also compromises the hair. I'm also afraid it will cause build up on my scalp and cause hair loss. Is any of this true?Does hair thickening shampoo cause hair loss/breakage?
i havent heard of hair thickening shampoo damaging hair, i do believe that for men, hair wax, and gels does damage hair and cause hair loss
