Does my cat have a brain tumor?

My four year old female American Short hair cat has had many seizures in the last three of four months and I don't know what to do. We've taken her to the vet several times, but our vet doesn't know what's wrong with her. The first kind of medication he gave her caused severe problems and almost killed her when she became very weak, stopped eating, very dehydrated, and constipated.

Now, she is on Valium, which is keeping the seizures away, but we are at a loss of what to do. Every night and morning we have to force a pill down her and she just sulks most of the day. The vet has talked to us about euthanasia, but I really, really, really don't want to kill her. I love her, and just lost my dog a year ago and don't want to lose another best friend.

We think she may have Epilepsy, but do epileptic animals really have this many seizures? Is it possible that she had a brain tumor? Our vet hasn't given us the option of an MRI, and I don't know if I should try and have one done on her somewhere.

I don't know at all what to do. Please help...Does my cat have a brain tumor?
Do you use Febreese in your home? I used to and my cat Purrsey started having seizures. My mom was researching cat seizures and found a site that made a connection. I threw the Febreese away and my cat quit having seizures!!! It has been more than two years and he hes never had another seizure!!

(I know, I know....the Fabreese theory has supposedly been'; debunked';. But MY cat stopped having seizures when I stopped using the product.)Does my cat have a brain tumor?

You can/should either:

A) get the MRI, and whatver surgery your cat needs.

B) get it put down :'(

You shouldn't keep your cat suffering (not saying it is suffering). You should act quick and decide, but give it some thought and think about where u are financially.

I'm in the same situation as you :'( I hope I can convince my parents to go with option A. I don't want to see Pumpkin go.
If you have the financial ability, by all means find out if there is a facility near you with an MRI or CT scan machine for pets! Sometimes, the cause for seizures is unknown, and this is where the diagnosis of Epilepsy comes into play. I, myself, have been ';diagnosed'; with Epilepsy because doctors cannot find a reason for my seizures. When situations like this come up with animals, you must ask yourself does your pet seem happy? Does the pet act like he/she is in pain? Is the behavior changing as the conditions worsens, or is the current behavior typical to the animal.

Oh, and just a side note, my cat HATES taking any sort of pill, so I take a (small) chunk of chicken breast, stick the pill inside, and give it as a treat BEFORE the first meal of the day when my cat is hungriest. That way, she won't even think of chewing, she'll just swallow the chunk whole because I always have another one ready and waiting. The second one, of course, is without a pill and just is a ';hurry up'; type of way to get her to focus on getting the one chunk down quickly.
She's a young cat. If you can afford the MRI - go for it. Don't go into dept for it though. There is very little chance it's a tumor, or anything else that will show up on the scan.

Don't mess with perfection. If the Valium is working - leave her be. Cats sleep 18-20 hours a day. It's not ';sulking';, she's just being a cat.

What blood work have you had done?

Diabetes, thyroid problems, and other conditions can cause seizures. They're easily treatable.
