Hi,
I have 2 cats.
1 is a male (Marky) and 1 is a female (Masha).
They used to love eachother. Groom, Play, Eat, Sleep etc.
Marky is an alaskan snow cat and Masha is a himalayan.
But thats not the point.
Marky had a lot of hair loss thus, I had the groomer shave him.
When I got him back home, Masha hissed at him as if he was another cat. :S
I guess she didn't recognize him. He totally knew her. When he came up close to kiss her, she attacked him and there was a cat fight! I don't know what to do. It's been 3 days, and now he is scared of her and wants to be friends but is scared.
She wants to be friends but is starting to recognize him, but when she gets upclose he hisses cause he's afraid of her.
I don't know what to do.
I have Masha temporary living in the 2nd Master bathroom. And Marky sleeping with me, cause he's scared of every tiny little movement. I don't know how to put them back together.
Any ideas?
Thanks! How can I make my 2 cats (male %26amp; female) like each other again?
Try getting a glass (or transparent plastic) patrician, or cut some strips out of a sheet of cardboard - basicly anything that lets the cats see through a doorway without letting them through it; you get the idea.
Put it in a doorway and put one cat on either side. They'll eventually walk up to each other, and you'll be able to judge what they feel about the other cat by their body language and behavior (ie. hissing if they're angry at each other, or rubbing againt the partician if they want to be with each other) and whether or not to remove the partician and let them be together.
This is more natural than crating one (and probably easier too) but should still stop any possible violence that could occour if you just put them next to each other right away. Just make sure you've got a spray bottle of water ready (spraying them with water makes most cat's stop fighting) incase they do feel hostile after you let them be together.
Hope this helps, and Merry Christmas. How can I make my 2 cats (male %26amp; female) like each other again?
Let them both run free if they're not seriously hurting each other. It just may take a bit of time for them to get reacquainted. Really, they are the only ones capable of working it out, so let them. Don't put cats in crates. It's very unnatural for them. Give them some time.
They will get around eventually. my cats did.
Good luck!
And MERRY CHRISTMAS!
treat like new cats
crate one and let the other check them out
