My 9 1/2 month old Winter White Russian Dwarf Hamster is having some hair loss. Why?

And what can I do to stop it?

He doesn't have abrasive bedding. I use ultra carefresh, and toilet paper. His diet includes nutriphase hamster food, and then pellets. I don't ever give him fruit.. and I give him fresh veggies once in a while. Sometimes I give him a little piece of tortilla (and I mean a little piece), and then some pieces of uncooked rice.

I'm not sure what could be causing the hair loss. It's not bad.

His skin isn't flaky. It's just red. And I looked, but I didn't see any bugs. It's like an even patch on his shoulder blades. I feel like he may be itching more.

And I didn't get him from a pet store. Got him from a girl who was breeding her hamsters. Had him since he was 5 weeks.

I'm going to bring him to the vet on Wednesday.. since I can't bring him monday or tuesday.. the guy who does the hamsters and stuff isn't there until wednesday and the girl who is there on monday and tuesday only does cats and dogs.

I was already on planning on bringing him in soon anyway, right after I got my tax returns. I do check ups on them to make sure they are healthy. But because of this, I want to bring him in now, to make sure he is okay.My 9 1/2 month old Winter White Russian Dwarf Hamster is having some hair loss. Why?
Well, as I said about the redness and flakiness, it could be either mites or ringworm... but, also like I said, this doesn't seem likely if you have had him in your home so long, and don't notice symptoms on any other animals/yourself.

Mites, though, might be species specific. Which would make sense why no symptoms are showing... but not where they came from in the first place.

If you are taking him to the vet, there's not really much else to be suggested. The vet will do a skin scraping and find out if it's a fungus or parasite or something completely different. My 9 1/2 month old Winter White Russian Dwarf Hamster is having some hair loss. Why?
You should take him to the vet immediately because mine had the same and i didnt know what to do but then i didnt take it to the vet so it died but mine had redness flakiness and it hair loss i think because i changed the bedding but im not sure
