First, some background info: I am a twenty year old Caucasian female, college student, 5'5';, 155 lbs, and was very active before this all happened. My medical history is pretty clean, never had any major issues or anything relating to what I am now going through.
At the beginning of this October, I began having dizzy spells. They would come on without warning and would come anytime, especially during a workout or right before meals. They would come and go but I could still function, wasn't feeling nauseous or anything like that. I was also having some sinus and facial pain, and thought I might have a sinus infection that was causing the dizziness. I made an appointment with my primary care doctor who saw me at the end of October. She tested me for thyroid issues, diabetes, white count, and several other things; as well as giving me a CT scan of my sinuses, which showed my sinuses as completely clean. She referred me to an ear, nose %26amp; throat specialist, and made me an appointment for the beginning of November. However, about a week later I woke up incredibly dizzy, and for the first time it did not go away. I called my mom in tears because I was scared and unsure what to do. She called my doctor who prescribed me Meclizine. The Meclizine did nothing, and my symptoms didn't go away, so a few days later she prescribed me Lorazepam, which also did nothing. By this time I wasn't having any sinus pains, just the extreme, constant dizziness. Even when I closed my eyes I could still feel the dizziness there. I couldn't drive, and riding in the car gave me motion sickness, which I have never had a problem with before. A few days later, my Dad took me to the ER because I simply couldn't function. They gave me a Valium IV and sent me home with a prescription for Phernegan. The Valium did nothing but put me to sleep and give me a hangover. The Phernegan did nothing but give me migraines and I had to stop taking it. At this point, i was out of work and school and pretty much all I could do was lay down. I finally saw the ENT, who said he didn't see anything wrong with my inner ear. I had an MRI of my head, which came back clean. About a week later I got a referral to a neurologist. I met with her and she didn't find any problems during the basic exam. She took blood for a Lyme test and also made me an appointment to get an EEG which happened a week later. I met with her again a few weeks after that. The EEG showed no seizure activity and nothing else that stood out to her, and the Lyme test was negative. At this time I was also having trouble sleeping-not falling asleep but waking up in the night and not being able to go back to sleep. Also, my hair began falling out-likely from stress and overall poor health. She decided that the next logical step was to look at a potential migraine variant, which apparently can't be tested for, but just diagnosed by whether or not medications work. However, some meds work for some people and some don't, so when a med doesn't work I don't know if it is because I don't have it or if the med just doesn't work. So I guess right now I am just waiting some more. The first med she prescribed me is Nortriptilyn, in two different dosages, and Propranolol, in two different doses. Neither worked. She tried to prescribe me Divalproex but I do not feel comfortable taking it with the side effects it has for something I am not even sure I have. I have been trying to get ahold of the neuro for several days to discuss this but she will not call me back. As of right now, my symptoms are: constant dizziness (varies in severity with no triggers to the changing severity), hair loss (probably stress), depression (which I think is just because I can't live my life, not as a symptom of the disease). I am sleeping better, partly due to the medication. I cannot read, go to school, drive, exercise, or do much of anything. I was a very active and busy person before this, with school, a job, friends, extracurriculars, and my animals. All I want is to feel better and have my life back. I see no point in getting out of bed when all I can do is lay around. If anyone has had a similar experience or has ANY ideas or suggestions, i would really appreciate hearing them. Thanks. Sorry so long. What is wrong with me =(?
Hi.
First off, I will tell you that I am a Nurse/Doctor wannabe with over 33 years of experience.
I am sorry to hear about your sickness. I will try to be brief here, and I hope this helps you......
Yes, I agree about the stress and loss of hair/ and sleeping probs (occasional).
Yes, I agree about the Depression, your whole life has changed! :(
Have they checked your Heart and Circulatory System?
Also I sugest going to the Website... Hallelujah Acres ....and look at some of the Testimonies.
I know people, personally on this Lifestyle Diet that have been healed of many sicknesses, and quickly too...
I also wonder about the silver/amalgam fillings in your teeth. They CAN make a REAL difference on your body health....REALLY. Sometimes the poision/metals from them can dislodge into your body. Don't let anybody tell you this isn't true.
Also see the website.... for Dr.Joseph Mercola....lots of information there on poisions!
I think both sites are on FACEBOOK. Be SURE to check them out.....
Please let me know here on this page how you are doing...ok?
Praying for you.
hugs, in South CarolinaWhat is wrong with me =(?
Wierd. Are you sure you are not being exposed to something (poisonous) which could cause this? Only a suggestion and I am probably way off. Good luck to you.
There are few other things that could also make you very dizzy, which I have noticed have not been checked from what you have mentioned. Some of them for instance, may be problems with your circulatory system and/or heart, liver problems, kidney problems, or there might be problems with some other system that hadn't been checked. There are a lot of areas within the nervous system, and circulatory system, that can cause extreme dizziness, and it sounds like it might be one of them. What I have noted could be what is going on, but you should ask to see either a gastroenterologist (digestive system), or cardiologist (heart and circulatory), or a urologist (kidneys), and it might not hurt to talk with a gynecologist as well. I hope that this helps you.
Right, im a medical student, not as wise as many of the people that could answer you hwere, but every sort of income helps, right, if until this second, no help has been given, then keep going on , go to different doctors, take more tests, dont leave anything unchecked, check your urinary tract if you have to, tests dont hurt, i do realize that tests can be expensive , but this is you health, now regarding poisons if it is the actual cause, then you will definetly see it with someone in the family or someone in the same environment, area u live in, Don't listen to what one doctor has to say, tell them everything, they dont know what ur feeling, tell them everything, Go check twice , thrice about everything, we had a kid living here who wasnt treated earlier , because they didnt take blood tests whih could have showed a marked increase in the wbc, neutrophils, which turned out he had cancer, Im not freaking you out here, your case could be so nsimple, nothing to worry about, but u need to seek help , work for it, and visit every doctor in the city, may god be with you.
