What's wrong with my poor dog? PLEASE HELP!!!!?

I have a 7 year old black retriever ( black lab mixed with a golden retriever ) that has hair loss problems. We don't know what's wrong with him and neither do the vets. for years he's had a nice coat ( long by the way ) and then one year he just started losing all his hair! He is pretty much bald now and I feel so bad :( We have taken him to 12 different vets and 3 dog specialists, he has had over 48 different tests done, and has had a ton of medication and we still don't know what's wrong!!! He is on lamb and rice dry food because we thought he was allergic to corn for awhile but apparently that's fine and he's all healthy except the hair loss part! He is really happy and well behaved even know he has this problem, he acts normal to! We give him special baths ( like an oatmeal bath thing for dogs ) and that doesn't help either! We can't think of any thing that would cause this since he was fine one year and then he was bald!!! I don't know what's wrong and I am really concerned about him. We watch him and he doesn't do anything abnormal or anything, no scratching, no biting, and he has no ticks, fleas, bugs or whatever ( he had a skin scraping done to. Also all of this happened before he was put on medication and stuff ) . He also has a brother also ( from the same liter ) that's fine and he still has all his fur.

(Sorry to be a scatter brain, its just that I am really concerned about my dog since none of the vets or specialists no either and I hope he's alright. )

Please help as much as you can! Personal experiences, safe sites or safe recommendations help also!

Thank you so much to all who answer and if you have an questions please included them in your answer. What's wrong with my poor dog? PLEASE HELP!!!!?
When traditional medicine fails, then as far as I'm concerned, it's time to try the alternative medicine route. It worked for me, and it's worked for my dogs. Go to the link below and do some research. You can also email in questions and people (including Ted) will respond. It may take a few days, but it's worth a shot. It may be nutritional issues, something most vets do not have a lot of training in.

You could also look for a holistic vet in your area and see if they could figure out what to do for this.

Best wishes.

BTW, I had a dog that was missing hair, and it was a nutritional related thing for her. She also has bad grain %26amp; corn allergies. I got some Micro Tek shampoo which helped and started her on Omega 3 and B vitamins. She has a full coat of hair now and has for several years, but it took a while for it all to grow back thick. What's wrong with my poor dog? PLEASE HELP!!!!?
He may be alergic to all grains.Try a grain -free kibble or even a raw diet, and add salmon oil to his food. Also, has he been tested for hypothyroidism? That can cause hair loss.
I haven't tried it myself, but they say that ';Dinovite'; is good for that problem. Here's the link; http://www.dinovite.com/ Good luck!
Have they checked the dog for thyroid problems?
I have a 10 month old lab that started having that issue! I thought it was his food since it was switched right before the issue started. Turns out that wasn't it. I tried doggy oatmeal shampoo and tea tree oil...nothing worked. Then I actually turned on a vicks vaporizer in my upstairs where he usually is and washed him with Organics coconut shampoo. Its been a month of weekly baths and constant vaporizer running and most of his fur is back...with the exception of some slow growing spots on his tail. I hope these suggestions work..i hated seeing my boy guy like that!

also, just a note..the tea tree oil seemedto help as well..i had been recommended that by a few vets and others with similar issues.
Have you tried an endocrinologist? sometimes hair loss can be due to hormone imbalances or perhaps a sugar imbalance.

Has he been to a dermatologist? I'm sure he has..but you might want a second opinion...sometimes people have this issue..

I would also recommend prayer. I started a St. Francis prayer tree and we have had miraculous recoveries. Prayer really works. Best wishes...and I'm sorry for what you all are going through...
