Kitty found in bad condition. What should I Do?

I found a small kitten outside on my doorstep so I took it in to give it some food and water without my other outdoor cats disturbing it. The kitten has a small cut on it's head - it's already turning into a scab but it's still kind of bloody. It dosen't have any hair barely left on it's tail except the bottom and some parts of his legs are missing hair. I might take a trip to the vet to get the poor thing checked out but I'd like to know what might be the cause of the hair-loss? Thanks in advance!Kitty found in bad condition. What should I Do?
The patches of missing hair sound almost certainly like an irritation from parasite - fleas, or mage etc. make sure you keep the kitten away from your other cats until you've had a chance for the vet to check him/her out!

And well done for rescuing the little thing. :)Kitty found in bad condition. What should I Do?
That's great that you took the kitten in. For tonight keep him separate from other animals and wash your hands really well after touching him. Young kittens with hair loss are very suspicious of ring worm or possibly scabies (though most will be very, very itchy). Have a vet check him out, they can confirm if it's ringworm and determine if you can treat it topically or if it's widespread enough to warrant an oral medication.
Yes, you must take your cat to the vet for a diagnosis and possibly treatment. The hair loss could simply be from malnutrition, as two of my rescued strays had the same problem, but it could be more serious. Regardless, if you plan on being responsible for the kitten you should at least have it vaccinated for distemper and schedule an appointment for neutering. It is generally recommended to neuter at around 3 to 4 months of age. Thanks for wanting to help the little one.
Awww... I hope you keep him! The hair loss could be anything, but my wild guess is that the kitten had/has fleas and the itching caused this. It could also have eaten something it was allergic to, or be a simple skin infection. I'd definitely get him vet-checked with a fecal screen, which isn't expensive. He almost certainly has worms and/or parasites from being outside.
Well there are many conditions and diseases which can result to hair loss.

Visit this website, in the table it tells you all the different types of diseases in cats and kittens and the symptoms they suffer with hair loss. http://www.peteducation.com/article.cfm?

Also I hope the kitten is okay.
i hate it when people ask questions like this, has it ever crossed you're mind to TAKE IT TO A VET?? or ring an ANIMAL RESCUE before it's too late!? there's not much you can do yourself without professional help.

The vet will surely know what caused hair loss.
I would agree. If you really care about the kitten take it to the vet. The hair is probably nothing but why risk it for the ~$25 it will cost for the vet.

Good luck
It May Be Fleas Or Mange But Still Go To The Vets Just In Case And I Think It Was Gd Thing Taking The Kitten In There Alot Of Animal Living On The Street :(

x
Take Him To The Vets Right Now!!!
