Some strange symptoms in my cat, vet is stumped?

Wondering if maybe there's someone with a similar experience or maybe a vet that knows what they're talking about, unlike my own.

My husband came home back in August one night with a stray cat--all black, about ten months old. She was pregnant--had six healthy kittens in early September. Up to that point, she had been a sweet, quiet cat who didn't get into much trouble--active, happy, playful. After she gave birth, though, she became destructive, solitary, and completely untrainable (I've been raising and training cats all my life). Nothing I do seems to get it through her head to not do things like jump on counters, scratch the furniture, and try to get outside. I'm thinking maybe she's just eternally feral, and the pregnancy tempered her because of her hormones.

But there's other stuff, too. Back right after the pregnancy, she did throw up a REALLY strange looking worm that no one could seem to identify, but she tested clean for them after that. Ever since, she's been urinating with insane frequency. Her stool is liquidy and reeks something awful, and she'll arbitrarily decide to go outside the box once in a while--I've been wondering if she's just unable to hold it. Every once in a great while, she'll throw up. On top of all this, she has hair loss around the back of her neck, without apparent cause--the skin is not irritated, red, scabby, crusted, not even strangely pigmented--it's just going bald. And when the fur has been regrowing, it's been an ashy grey.

I cannot figure out what is wrong with this cat, and neither could our vet. We feed the other cats (two females kittens and a senior male cat) the same food, we watch all of them, they're all healthy but her--and I'm not sure how healthy/unhealthy she is, as she still plays with the other cats on occasion and eats with a normal appetite. She's strictly indoors now and our senior cat is neutered, and we know he's not mounting her (this would account for some of the hair loss, but no dice) and we're pretty sure the kittens aren't ripping her fur out, because if they were they'd be ripping out each other's too, and it hasn't happened. She's not pregnant again, she's free of worms, the food shouldn't be irritating her, and she doesn't seem to be losing weight or anything like that. We keep everything clean and, as far as we know, she doesn't get any human food.

Does anyone have a CLUE what this could be?Some strange symptoms in my cat, vet is stumped?
I agree with sunshine - there's a medical issue going on here, and the cat should be checked thoroughly to find out what it is. Whether it's kidney failure or leukemia or whatever. It's not just a behavioral issue. Find a more experienced vet or take her to a cat hospital where they specialize. Some strange symptoms in my cat, vet is stumped?
Has she been checked for diabetes? Frequent urination can be caused by diabetes as well as drinking a lot of water. I am not sure about all of the other symptoms, however.
The temparament change, I suspect, is because she is feral - but having trained cats all your life I am sure you know that this just takes far more time to sort out.

Frequent urinations is a symptom of a few things, including UTI and diabetes. Going nr two outside the box as well is sometimes also an indicator of UTI - however, it may be that she is chased by one of the other cats, and or disturbed on the litterbox. Add more boxes in various places.

I would need more detail about the throwing up - is it after she eats? If so, feed her smaller quantities more often - preferably wet and not dry since dry has been shown tobe causative in both conditions I have mentioned. If not, has the vet ruled out possible allergy? Parasites? (Not just worms)

The skin condition is worrying. Those symptoms sound like sarcoptic mange....that's something you want to be taking ALL the cats in for checking since it spreads like all hell.

So......I would take her and all of them in first - rule out mange.

Then have her checked, liver function, kidneys and urinary tract, as well as what I mentioned above.

Good luck!
You said your vet was stumped but you DID NOT say if your vet did a basic cbc and chem screen on the cat..(if he didn't get a new vet) any time there's frequent urination it could be a number of things..kidneys..diabetic..urinary tract..etc..the way to find out is with a simple blood test.

Hair loss can be realated to a thyroid problem,,again in the blood work,,the bottome line is cbc..full chem screen and urinalysis..you'll have your answer and your vet wont be ';stumped'; any longer..again if this was not done..FIND A NEW VET.
This vet does not sound very knowledgeable. My cat had diarrhea after having kittens and we gave her a probiotic gel and also a pack of probiotics that was mixed with some kitty milk. It kinda sounds like she is allergic to her food. Just because one cat is ok with the food doesnt mean she will be. I would also look for urinary tract infection or crystals in the urine. If all else fails she should get a x-ray to see if there are any obstructions. There is alot more that can be done to determine what is causing this. A cortisone shot might also help with the hair problems. She sounds like she is miserable.
