What is your opinion on this medical Research & Survey by Bangalore Doctors?

Young women are going bald as they try to be perfect wives, mothers, employees and friends

* St John's Hospital study shows startling trend * 60 %of all hair loss patients are women

More women are complaining of hair loss than men, doctors say. According to an ongoing study at St John's Medical College Hospital at Koramangala, more than 60 per cent of patients with complaints of hair loss are women.

The study began about eight years ago and covered around 8,000 patients who visited the Trichology Clinic in the dermatology department of the hospital.

Dr Anil Abraham, head of the dermatology department, said, ';In the last couple of years, we are seeing not just more patients coming in with hair problems, but also an increase in the number of women complaining of hair loss.';

According to the survey, 75 per cent of all women who came to the clinic with hair loss complaints are working women in the 25-35 age group.

The causes could vary from medical conditions, such as thyroid problems or hormonal imbalances, to poor nutrition, diets, excessive use of hair products, and frequent visits to the parlour. Some medications can also cause balding.

No 1 CAUSE

Stress seems to be the overriding cause going by responses to a questionnaire that was part of the survey.

Work stress, deadlines, commuting, balancing work and family, and domestic worries were some common factors listed by patients. Irregular meals and unreasonable diets also figured on the list.

Dr Abraham says, ';Most patients suffer stress in their attempts to be superwomen. Trying to make everyone happy — children, spouse, boss, friends — seems to be taking a toll on their health.';

CASE STUDY

A 28-year-old software professional has been suffering severe hair loss for three weeks and fears she could be bald soon.

“My husband makes a face every time we have to clean the bathroom floor of little balls of hair,” she told Bangalore Mirror.

She has been putting in 10 to 12 hours at work every day after some colleagues were laid off. She often left home in the morning without breakfast and had no time for exercise or relaxation.

stress alone cant be the reason. women those days never go to salon. but women these days have to go salon often, style the hair, and we use various styling products. we perm our hair, we straighten our hair, we dye our hair, etc... that's the reason.
This is a timely study,survey and a good question by you(as usual).

What are all 'SUGGESTIONS TO SAVE YOUR HAIR' furnished by you are nice.

Here I add one more thing.

Women in those days used to make their hair dry by bowing the head and wiping with a towel,after a head bath.This exercise is related to blood circulation and hair roots also get a sort of massage treatment.Using herbal is also effective for a healthy hair.Sembaruthi,sihakkai,coconut oil etc are good.
