I'm looking for a muscle relaxant that does not cause the following side effects: hair loss, weight gain, vision problems, fatigue, etc. I need to go on one, but I'm hoping to avoid ugly side effects like those ones. If anyone has experience taking muscle relaxants, I'd appreciate any advice you can offer me. Thanks!Side-effects of muscle relaxants?
The hair loss and vision problems are fairly uncommon, and I've never had any problems with that. However, it doesn't matter what kind of muscle relaxant you're taking - it will probably make you sleepy. And if you take a lot of them, that means you're just sitting around a lot, and of course you'll gain weight.
In terms of effectiveness, soma is the best.Side-effects of muscle relaxants?
I have FMS and have to take one nightly. I take Flexeril and then go to bed. I remember at first it making me really sleepy, but now it doesn't. With FMS i have learned how to push through the groggy-ness (to some extent). I have taken a Skelaxin before and not been drowsy even though it was during the day. I'd just do a little reasearch and see what's right for your medical issue. Different relaxers do different things. I have to take specifically Flexeril because it aids in restorative sleep. Good luck!
